Kongkhao OPENING!!!

So finally Monday the 11th of October Kongkhao Restaurant will open. At first it was a simple traditional Lao wooden house on its way out and we turned it back to its original splendor and more... It's been a tough few months, bringing the place back to life, painting it, refurbishing it, making it special... but day after day the place started to resemble our dream more and more and here we are; the miracle has happened. On Monday we'll be proud to share our creation with all of you! we constructed a wooden deck outside without bothering the trees that were previously there so that you can enjoy the shade in the sunny days and scent the blooming flowers of the tropical garden surrounding it in the evening. The soft lounge music will be a perfect background for all your meetings and well the food it's something different. We found an amazing Lao woman as a chef, and you can taste her love for the local delicacy with every bite. Kongkhao offers a wonderful range of dishes that can satisfy even the most skeptical diner about Southeast Asian specialties. Every dish is homemade, fresh and MSG free (a real rarity around here). We look forward to meet you and try out our deliciousness!

  1. Kongkhao, not only does it have a unique atmosphere that encompasses everything of what was and still stands, This traditional wooden house for those who are curious is a wonderful new place that has everything and more. On arrival I was drawn in and impressed by the lovely and relaxed ambiance, I immediately felt on holiday!
This restaurant seems to bind together nicely the richness of the tropical nature which surrounds the outside deck in a romantic backdrop manner supplying the yearned for feeling of a totally authentic get away. Not to mention the delicious and addictive flavours of the food of course which is something worth bragging about! With its soft romantic music, warm and humble owners I just fell in love with this place and had to write about it as I want everyone to go an experience this heavenly new creation that I believe will be a hot spot for years to come.

  3. HI Chris, thanks for your question. The argument about MSG is quite controversial, while some people say is absolutely safe, others say it's potentially harmful(asthmatic symptoms, obesity, migraine and so on) We are not scientists here but being a food lover I simply prefer to taste the REAL flavor of natural ingredients in every dish. MSG makes everything taste appetizing but our chef can accomplish the same results without the risk of harming anyone and with a genuine way of cooking.

  4. I Absolutely Agree with Kongkhao Stuff said...the monosodiumglutamate is like the salt just to encrease the taste but it is going to change it too...like the salt...if U have got a great Fresh natural ingredients You don't need it at ALL!!!
if You are enough sensitive...if U are a smoker or You are used with some kind of "artificial" food of course U don't feel the natural taste of fresh stuff!!! from the italian cooker that invented the Pizza Helicopter MG ;-)
